1) Tempio di Cristo Re
Our tour begins at the Shrine of Christ the King, a monumental memorial built in 1937 to honour the soldiers who fell during the two World Wars. Perched on a panoramic hill, it offers one of the most beautiful views over the Strait of Messina and has a fascinating history behind its construction.
2) Fontana di Nettuno
One of the city’s most iconic monuments! This fountain, dedicated to Neptune, hides interesting curiosities and mysterious legends linked to the sea and the ancient history of Messina. Let’s discover them together!
3) Palazzo del Monte di Pietà (Pass By)
As we walk through the centre, we pass by the Monte di Pietà Palace, a beautiful example of late Renaissance architecture and an important historical building for the city.
4) Galleria Vittorio Emanuele III
Built between 1924 and 1929, this stunning gallery was designed by architect Camillo Puglisi Allegra. Recognized as a site of historical and artistic interest, it is one of the city’s most elegant places — perfect for a stroll under its beautiful glass dome.
5) Santuario di Santa Maria di Montalto
Located on one of the hills overlooking Messina, the Sanctuary of Montalto offers an incredible view and is deeply linked to legends and stories of the Madonna of Victories. A peaceful and fascinating stop with plenty of curiosities to uncover!
6) Messina Cathedral (Basilica Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta)
The heart of Messina’s religious and cultural life! The Cathedral, with its impressive façade and rich history, is one of the city’s most important landmarks. Its bell tower is home to the famous astronomical clock — a must-see when in town.
7) Annunziata dei Catalani Church (Pass By)
A rare and precious example of Norman-Arab architecture, this church stands as one of the few survivors of the 1908 earthquake. Its layered history makes it a unique treasure of the city.
8) Stele della Madonna della Lettera
Standing 53.5 metres tall at the entrance of the port, this monumental statue dedicated to the Madonna della Lettera is the largest in Sicily. Placed in a strategic and symbolic location, it’s tied to ancient myths and is one of the strongest icons of Messina.

At the beginning of every digital guide you will find a map that will show you the itinerary! However, you don’t need to use that one! Before every attraction / monuments included in the tour you will find a button that connects you to google map. You just press that button and you are done! Once you get to your destination you can go back to the digital guide and read/listen everything!
